PLAN YOUR JOURNEY
Planning London to Shanghai: airport, luggage and onward travel
Use this London to Shanghai page to set your arrival priorities, compare departure choices and prepare a clear enquiry. The city planning note and questions below explain the decisions to make before choosing a fare.
For a visit including Beijing, decide the order of your stops before choosing the UK return. The flight examples above are indicative; your written proposal confirms the actual operating airlines, dates, baggage and total fare.
What should I settle before booking a Shanghai itinerary?
Identify Shanghai Pudong or Hongqiao by airport code on every flight. An airport change is not a normal same-terminal connection; build the transfer into any domestic or rail plan.
Which London airport should I use for a Shanghai flight?
Choose the London airport you can reach reliably before comparing fares to Shanghai. Ask the proposal to identify that airport and PVG, including any change between airports. If a different London departure looks cheaper, add your transport, parking or overnight hotel to the total. Your flight home may also land at a different London airport.
Can I combine Shanghai with Beijing on one UK itinerary?
List your Shanghai arrival, the date you want to reach Beijing, and the final UK return. Ask for the airports on every flight, including any airport change. If you arrange rail between the cities, mark it as your own transport. Compare an open-jaw return with a round trip before buying a separate internal fare.
How do I request extra baggage on a London to Shanghai ticket?
For this Shanghai request, list each traveller’s checked pieces and weight, plus any pushchair, mobility aid or oversized item. Ask for a bag-inclusive fare and a lower fare with the same bags added in both directions. If you continue to Beijing, include that segment too. Compare the final payable totals; an allowance stated for only the long-haul flight leaves part of the cost unanswered.
What should families or elderly travellers check before flying to Shanghai?
Plan the Shanghai arrival around the traveller who needs the most support. Give ages on both travel dates and describe any walking or boarding assistance needed. If Beijing is another stop, request assistance and seating checks for those flights as well. Compare rest time, connection effort and final collection, not only the airfare.
What do I need before asking for a Shanghai flight quote?
Send the London departure date, return or onward dates, passenger ages, bags and any firm Shanghai arrival deadline. Mention the Beijing visit if it belongs to this trip. We can then compare suitable options and explain the fare conditions. The form sends a request; it neither reserves a seat nor confirms a displayed example price.
